Wild Namibia Adventure

  • Day 0 Date: 2027-04-26
  • Day 0 Photo:
  • Day 0 Description:

Our tour officially begins after breakfast on April 26, so we highly recommend arriving in Windhoek a day earlier to ensure you're well-rested and ready for the adventure ahead. To make your arrival easier, we’ll suggest a convenient hotel in Windhoek that you can book for your pre-tour stay.

Our designated airport is Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek, Namibia. When booking your flights, it’s worth exploring the option of flying into Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) first and then booking a separate regional flight to Windhoek. This route often offers more flexibility and can sometimes be significantly more cost-effective for both arrival and return.

  • Day 1 Date: 2027-04-26
  • Day 1 Photo:
  • Day 1 Description:

Our photographic adventure begins after breakfast as we board our rugged 4x4 safari vehicles and leave Windhoek behind, journeying north toward one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations—Etosha National Park.

Renowned for its immense salt pans, beautiful light, and remarkable concentrations of wildlife, Etosha offers exceptional opportunities to photograph elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, antelope, and an incredible variety of birdlife against the park’s distinctive open landscapes.

Upon arrival, we’ll check into our comfortable lodge near the park, perfectly positioned for the wildlife photography adventures ahead.

After a short break, we’ll head to nearby game farm for a special photographic experience with some of Africa’s most elusive wild cats. The farm provides a protected environment for animals including lions, leopards, and caracals, giving us an opportunity to photograph these magnificent predators at much closer range than is normally possible on safari.

We’ll take advantage of the afternoon light and carefully chosen shooting positions to create intimate wildlife portraits, clean compositions, and dramatic images—an exciting introduction to the incredible wildlife photography that awaits us in Etosha.

  • Day 2 Description:

We begin before sunrise for a full day of wildlife photography inside Etosha National Park, taking advantage of the beautiful golden morning light when the landscape comes alive and wildlife is often at its most active.

Today, the entire day is devoted to exploring and photographing Etosha. We’ll travel through the park’s vast open plains and visit productive waterholes, searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, antelope, and an incredible variety of birdlife. With no need to rush, we’ll have time to observe animal behavior, wait for those special moments, and capture everything from intimate wildlife portraits to dramatic environmental images.

Throughout the day, every waterhole and turn in the road can bring a new surprise—a herd of elephants arriving to drink, giraffes crossing the open plains, or perhaps a lion resting in the shade.

As afternoon fades into evening, we’ll position ourselves for one final golden-hour photography session, when the low African sun transforms the landscape with warm light, long shadows, glowing dust, and beautiful silhouettes.

A full day immersed in the wild heart of Etosha—where you never know what extraordinary encounter may be waiting around the next corner.

After breakfast, we’ll leave Etosha behind and head into the heart of Namibia’s wildlife territory. Our destination: A Private Game Reserve—a beautifully diverse habitat known for its close-up wildlife encounters and tranquil, uncrowded setting.

Unlike the busier national parks, it offers a more personal and flexible experience—perfect for photographers seeking both proximity and pristine light. In the afternoon, we’ll join a guided game drive across the reserve, exploring golden savannas, dense bushland, and hidden watering holes.

  • Day 4 Description:

Today we shift gears from wildlife to landscapes and head inland toward one of Namibia’s most iconic landmarks: Spitzkoppe.

Often referred to as the “Matterhorn of Namibia,” these towering rock formations offer a playground of bold shapes, warm tones, and otherworldly textures—perfectly lit by the golden glow of sunset.

Upon arriving, we’ll experience a truly unforgettable cultural encounter. With special permission through an exclusive filming permit, we’ll visit a Himba tribe. We’ll photograph them in their natural surroundings—capturing scenes of daily life, traditional dress, and ceremonial dances that offer a rare glimpse into their rich cultural heritage.

After sunset, we'll check into our luxury accommodations at Spitzkoppe Lodge—a collection of beautifully appointed chalets tucked right into the rocks, blending comfort with immersive views of the surrounding desert.

As darkness falls, we return inside the park for a special astrophotography session beneath some of the clearest skies in Africa.

  • Day 5 Description:

We begin the day early, photographing sunrise among the spectacular granite formations of Spitzkoppe. As the first light reaches the desert, the massive granite peaks and boulders take on warm shades of gold and orange, creating wonderful opportunities for landscape photography.

After our sunrise session, we return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and beginning our journey toward Namibia’s Atlantic coast.

The drive to Walvis Bay takes us through a dramatic transformation in scenery, from the rugged granite landscapes and vast expanses of the Namib Desert to the cool, misty air of the coast.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Walvis Bay, where towering desert dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll board our 4x4 vehicles for an exciting sunset photography adventure into the spectacular dune landscape near Sandwich Harbour.

Our experienced drivers will take us deep into the dunes, stopping at carefully selected vantage points where we can photograph sweeping dune formations, dramatic patterns of light and shadow, and the remarkable meeting of desert and ocean. As the sun drops toward the horizon, the golden dunes glow in the warm evening light while the deep blue Atlantic stretches into the distance—a spectacular finale to another day of photography in Namibia.

  • Day 6 Description:

We kick off the day with another thrilling 4x4 adventure—this time at sunrise, as we return to the towering coastal dunes near Sandwich Harbour. The soft morning light will reveal an entirely new side of the landscape. It’s an exhilarating ride through steep dune valleys and along oceanfront ridgelines, where each stop offers fresh, dramatic compositions that only this rare desert-meets-sea environment can provide.

In the evening, we’ll slow things down and turn our lenses toward a quieter, more graceful subject—flamingos. Just steps across the road from our hotel, thousands of these elegant birds gather in the shallow tidal waters of Walvis Bay.

We begin the day with one last opportunity to photograph the flamingos at sunrise, as the soft morning light illuminates the calm waters of Walvis Bay. With luck, we’ll capture flocks of flamingos feeding in the shallows, their reflections glowing in the warm early light.

After breakfast, we leave the Atlantic coast behind and begin our journey deep into the Namib Desert.

Our destination is Sossusvlei, home to some of the tallest and most iconic sand dunes in the world.

As the sun begins its descent, the landscape is transformed—burnt-orange ridges glow in the golden light, razor-sharp shadows sweep across the dunes, and windswept patterns in the sand create endless photographic possibilities.

It is a spectacular introduction to Sossusvlei and one of the most extraordinary desert landscapes in Namibia.

  • Day 8 Photo:
  • Day 8 Description:

Today is dedicated entirely to photographing the extraordinary landscapes of Sossusvlei, from the first light of dawn to the stars of the night sky.

We begin before sunrise, heading deep into the desert to photograph the towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei in the soft morning light. As the sun rises, the enormous dunes come alive with brilliant shades of orange and red, while long, sweeping shadows accentuate their graceful curves and sculpted ridgelines. The constantly changing light provides endless opportunities for both grand landscapes and intimate desert compositions.

After a break during the harsh midday light, we return to the dunes in the late afternoon for our sunset photography session. The low-angle light transforms the desert once again, illuminating the dune crests in rich golden tones while deep shadows create dramatic contrasts, patterns, and textures across the landscape.

After dinner, conditions permitting, we venture out once more for Milky Way photography beneath the exceptionally dark skies of the Namib Desert. Far from city lights, the desert offers spectacular night skies. We’ll photograph the brilliant Milky Way rising above the dunes and desert landscape, using the shapes and silhouettes of the Namib as foreground elements.

From sunrise to sunset and finally the Milky Way, this will be one of the most photography-intensive and rewarding days of the tour.

Wifi is available mostly in our hotels. You can buy a prepaid local sim with data access if needed. Phones using physical SIM cards are highly recommended. E-SIM cards are very expensive and not readily available in Namibia

  • Day 9 Description:

We begin our day with a one-hour head start—an exclusive advantage of staying inside the park at Dead Valley Lodge. While visitors staying outside the park are still waiting for the outer gates to open, we’ll already be making our way deep into Sossusvlei in pursuit of one of Namibia’s most iconic photographic scenes: Deadvlei at sunrise.

Our early departure is critical. We’ll make our way across the desert and hike the final stretch to reach Deadvlei as the first rays of sunlight begin to illuminate the surrounding dunes. For a brief and magical window, the ancient skeletal camelthorn trees cast long shadows across the bone-white clay pan, while the towering dunes behind them glow in brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold.

After our morning shoot, we’ll check out and journey southwest toward the windswept coastal town of Lüderitz, gateway to the extraordinary ghost town of Kolmanskop.

Once a thriving diamond-mining settlement, Kolmanskop is now slowly being reclaimed by the Namib Desert. Drifting sand fills abandoned rooms and pours through doorways, surrounding faded walls, shattered windows, and remnants of German colonial architecture.

The combination of history, abandonment, architecture, light, and encroaching desert makes Kolmanskop one of Namibia’s most fascinating photographic locations.

  • Day 10 Description:

We start bright and early to capture Kolmanskop in the beautiful warm light of morning, when golden sunlight streams through broken windows and open doorways, illuminating rooms slowly being reclaimed by the desert.

With our exclusive two-day photography permits, we’ll have extended access to explore this extraordinary ghost town at a relaxed pace, giving us plenty of time to search for the best compositions. We’ll follow the changing light through sand-filled corridors, abandoned rooms, peeling walls, and forgotten ballrooms, where every doorway seems to reveal another photograph waiting to be made.

As the light shifts throughout the day, Kolmanskop continually transforms, offering an incredible variety of textures, patterns, shadows, architectural details, and intimate compositions.

And our photography may not end at sunset. Weather and sky conditions permitting, we’ll venture out again after dark for a Milky Way photography session, taking advantage of Namibia’s wonderfully dark skies to capture the stars above the surrounding desert landscape—a memorable ending to an extraordinary day of photography.

  • Day 11 Description:

We’ll spend our second morning at Kolmanskop, taking advantage of the beautiful early morning light for one final photography session inside this extraordinary ghost town. As sunlight streams through abandoned rooms and sand-filled corridors, we’ll have another opportunity to discover new compositions before saying goodbye to Lüderitz.

We then journey inland toward Keetmanshoop, gateway to one of Namibia’s most otherworldly landscapes—the legendary Quivertree Forest.

This ancient grove of distinctive quivertrees creates a surreal landscape found in few places on Earth. Their sculptural, forked branches and golden trunks glow beautifully in the late-afternoon light, creating wonderful opportunities for both intimate compositions and dramatic desert landscapes.

As sunset fades and darkness settles over the desert, the experience becomes even more magical. We’ll stay into the night for an unforgettable astrophotography session, capturing the silhouettes of the quivertrees beneath Namibia’s brilliant stars and, conditions permitting, the Milky Way stretching across the desert sky.

  • Day 12 Description:

Depending on how late our astrophotography session runs the night before, we’ll either greet the day with a sunrise shoot or enjoy a relaxed morning visit to the nearby Giant’s Playground.

This geological wonder lives up to its name—a surreal expanse where massive dolerite boulders are stacked like building blocks from some ancient myth. Sculpted over millions of years by volcanic activity and erosion, these formations create a natural maze of stone that begs to be explored. Here, the play of light and shadow across the rugged terrain offers striking opportunities for both wide-angle landscapes and abstract close-ups.

After some well-earned rest in the afternoon, we’ll return to the Quivertree Forest for a second night under the stars.  We’ll revisit our favorite compositions, explore new perspectives, and savor the stillness as the trees stand silhouetted against the vast night sky.

We begin our final day in the field with one last sunrise photography session among the remarkable quivertrees, capturing their sculptural forms in the soft golden light of morning—a fitting finale to our photographic adventure.

The evening is yours to relax, look back through your favorite images, and enjoy one last dinner with the group as we celebrate the incredible landscapes we’ve experienced, the photographs we’ve created, and the friendships formed along the way.
