  • Description:

It's inconceivable that Uncertain, a small Texas town with a population of less than a hundred, hides a landscape photographer's paradise. It's hard to describe the feeling when you see it for the first time, for there is something eerily haunting about it. It's like traveling back in time or being on a movie set. And as if the scenery is not enough, the compositional elements here are limitless.

Join us as we explore and capture the varying moods of Caddo Lake. We will photograph this breathtaking location by pontoon boat, on foot, and by kayak. This place has so much to offer in terms of landscape and bird photography. So expect to come home with spectacular images as we share the nuance and techniques of photographing such a unique location.

We know your time is valuable, so as part of our service, we will send an advanced party to map the areas where the autumn colors are more prominent.

  • Guides: Edwin Martinez, Noel Casaje
  • Expected Temperature Range:

The lake's average depth is 4 ft, and the average temperature in November can range from 35-70 degrees. The water temperature at this time is too cold for alligators, so they are mostly dormant.

Exotic Namibia Adventure

  • Day 0 Date: 2026-05-24
  • Day 0 Photo:
  • Day 0 Description:

Our tour officially begins after breakfast on May 24, so we highly recommend arriving in Windhoek a day earlier to ensure you're well-rested and ready for the adventure ahead. To make your arrival easier, we’ll suggest a convenient hotel in Windhoek that you can book for your pre-tour stay.

Our designated airport is Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek, Namibia. When booking your flights, it’s worth exploring the option of flying into Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) first and then booking a separate regional flight to Windhoek. This route often offers more flexibility and can sometimes be significantly more cost-effective for both arrival and return.

  • Day 1 Date: 2026-05-24
  • Day 1 Photo:
  • Day 1 Description:

Our adventure begins after breakfast as we hop into our rugged 4x4 vehicles, leaving behind the bustle of Windhoek and journeying south toward the quiet town of Keetmanshoop—gateway to one of Namibia’s most otherworldly landscapes: the legendary Quivertree Forest.

This ancient grove, filled with towering aloe trees, offers a surreal scene found nowhere else on Earth. Their thick, forked trunks and golden bark shimmer in the afternoon sun, casting long shadows across the arid terrain. These giants have stood for centuries, silent witnesses to the desert winds and starlit nights.

As the sun sets and the sky darkens, the forest transforms. We’ll set up for an unforgettable night photography session—capturing the iconic silhouettes of the quivertrees beneath the stars.

  • Day 2 Date: 2026-05-25
  • Day 2 Photo:
  • Day 2 Description:

Depending on how late our astrophotography session runs the night before, we’ll either greet the day with a sunrise shoot or enjoy a relaxed morning visit to the nearby Giant’s Playground.

This geological wonder lives up to its name—a surreal expanse where massive dolerite boulders are stacked like building blocks from some ancient myth. Sculpted over millions of years by volcanic activity and erosion, these formations create a natural maze of stone that begs to be explored. Here, the play of light and shadow across the rugged terrain offers striking opportunities for both wide-angle landscapes and abstract close-ups.

After some well-earned rest in the afternoon, we’ll return to the Quivertree Forest for a second night under the stars.  We’ll revisit our favorite compositions, explore new perspectives, and savor the stillness as the trees stand silhouetted against the vast night sky.

  • Day 3 Date: 2026-05-26

  • Day 3 Description:

After breakfast, we’ll leave Keetmanshoop behind and journey toward our second destination: the windswept coastal town of Lüderitz—gateway to one of the most surreal photographic locations in all of Africa: Kolmanskop.

Once a booming diamond mining settlement during the early 1900s, Kolmanskop is now a hauntingly beautiful ghost town being slowly reclaimed by the desert. Sun-bleached walls, shattered windows, and grand German colonial architecture now sit half-buried in drifting sand, creating an otherworldly fusion of man-made history and raw natural power.

Armed with exclusive full-day photography permits, we’ll have unrestricted access to explore and photograph this timeworn marvel—chasing light and shadow through sand-filled corridors, peeling wallpaper, and forgotten ballrooms. Every room tells a story, and every doorway reveals a frame worthy of a masterpiece.

  • Day 4 Description:

After a sunrise session in Kolmanskop—we say goodbye to Lüderitz and begin our journey into the heart of the Namib Desert.

Our detination: Sossusvlei, home to the tallest and most iconic sand dunes on Earth.

As the sun begins its descent, we’ll arrive just in time to witness the dunes catch fire in the late afternoon light.

After sunset, we check into Dead Valley Lodge, a luxury oasis nestled inside Namib-Naukluft National Park.. Each spacious tented suite combines modern comfort with timeless safari charm—featuring canvas walls, air conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms.

Being located inside the park boundary, guests enjoy the exclusive advantage of early access to the dunes—an hour before the outer gate opens—ideal for sunrise shoots in Deadvlei.

We begin our day with a one-hour head start—an exclusive advantage for those staying inside the park at Dead Valley Lodge. While others are still waiting for the outer gates to open, we’ll already be on the move, in pursuit of one of Namibia’s most iconic scenes: Deadvlei at sunrise.

This early departure is critical—we’ll be racing against the rising sun across several kilometers, aiming to reach Deadvlei at first light. In those brief, magical moments, the skeletal camelthorn trees cast long shadows across the bone-white clay, and the surrounding dunes glow with intense reds and oranges.

As the day winds down, we’ll shift our focus to the colossal dunes of Sossusvlei, capturing their sculpted curves as they catch the warm, low-angle light of sunset.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Walvis Bay, a coastal town nestled between sand and sea—where towering dunes meet the crashing surf. As the sun begins to drop, we’ll hop into 4x4 vehicles for a thrilling sunset adventure into the dune belt near Sandwich Harbour. We’ll stop at key vantage points to photograph the ever-changing patterns of light and texture, where golden sand meets deep blue sea under the warm glow of sunset.

In the evening, we’ll slow things down and turn our lenses toward a quieter, more graceful subject—flamingos. Just steps across the road from our hotel, thousands of these elegant birds gather in the shallow tidal waters of Walvis Bay.

Often referred to as the “Matterhorn of Namibia,” these towering rock formations offer a playground of bold shapes, warm tones, and otherworldly textures—perfectly lit by the golden glow of sunset.

After sunset, we'll check into our luxury accommodations at Spitzkoppe Lodge—a collection of beautifully appointed chalets tucked right into the rocks, blending comfort with immersive views of the surrounding desert.

As darkness falls, we return inside the park for a special astrophotography session beneath some of the clearest skies in Africa.

Later in the day, as the sun begins to dip once more, we’ll experience a truly unforgettable cultural encounter. With special permission through an exclusive filming permit, we’ll visit a Himba tribe. We’ll photograph them in their natural surroundings—capturing scenes of daily life, traditional dress, and ceremonial dances that offer a rare glimpse into their rich cultural heritage.

As golden hour peaks, we’ll bring the Himba participants into the dramatic Spitzkoppe landscape. This is more than just a photo shoot—it’s a respectful collaboration that honors tradition while creating striking visual storytelling.

Upon arrival, we’ll check into our luxury accommodations just outside the park gates—an elegant lodge that offers both comfort and close proximity to Etosha’s action-packed game-viewing zones.

For the next two days, we’ll explore this legendary park in search of Namibia’s most iconic species. We begin the day with an early morning game drive inside Etosha National Park, taking full advantage of the soft golden light that brings the landscape and its wildlife to life. This is when the animals are most active.

After a short break, we head to nearby El Dorado Game Farm—an incredible opportunity to photograph some of Africa’s most elusive wild cats in a controlled, naturalistic environment. Home to rescued and protected big cats such as lions, leopards, and caracals, the farm offers up-close photographic access that’s nearly impossible to achieve on a traditional safari. We’ll be able to position ourselves for clean backgrounds to ensure frame-worthy portraits and dynamic action shots.

Luminous Namibia Adventure

  • Day 0 Date: 2026-05-08
  • Day 0 Photo:
  • Day 0 Description:

Our tour officially begins after breakfast on May 8, so we highly recommend arriving in Windhoek a day earlier to ensure you're well-rested and ready for the adventure ahead.

  • Day 1 Date: 2026-05-08

  • Day 2 Date: 2026-05-09

  • Day 3 Date: 2026-05-10
  • Day 3 Photo:

Burnt orange ridges, razor-sharp shadows, and windswept patterns create a photographer’s dream at every turn

  • Day 5 Description:

  • Day 7 Description:

Today, we skip the sunrise session to allow ourselves a bit of rest. After breakfast, we head back to the Kazakh family's area for a very special day. We will experience a private eagle festival arranged exclusively for our group. Kazakh horsemen, dressed in traditional dark coats and scarlet hats, will showcase their majestic Golden Eagles, perched on their arms. This unique event is organized by locals dedicated to preserving the traditional Kazakh heritage.

Enjoy the rare opportunity to view Golden Eagles up close and even have one perch upon your arm. We will have the chance to request private portrait sessions with the eagle hunters. This exclusive event is limited to just 12 photographers, ensuring an intimate and uncrowded experience. Unlike the crowded public festivals, we will have up to 20 eagle hunters available for photography in diverse locations, including mountain ridges, river bends, and grass marshlands with splashes and reflections. Each eagle hunter will be ready for portrait sessions and will be very friendly to our group. You'll feel as if you're on a movie set and will bring back home hundreds of stunning images with no crowd behind.

After this unforgettable day, we return to Olgii, a 1-1.5 hour drive, and stay at the same hotel equipped with showers and Wi-Fi. Enjoy a comfortable rest as you reflect on the extraordinary experiences of the day.
